Multi-Language Sites in Super
With Super’s Multi-Language Switcher, you can easily offer your website content in multiple languages, providing a seamless browsing experience for your global audience. Users can switch between languages directly from your website’s navigation.
Multi-Language is a Pro plan feature
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to set languages up:
Set up the new Language Pages in Notion
Prepare Translated Pages in Notion
Before setting up additional languages in Super, you’ll first need to create translated versions of your site's content within Notion.
- Create separate top-level pages in Notion for each language you want to support (e.g., Spanish, French).
- Under each top-level language page, add your translated content structured similarly to your original site.
- You can use the Notion AI to help translate your content by pasting the existing content on the page, selecting the blocks and asking the Notion AI to translate the content
Connect Translated Pages to Super
Load each top-level translated Notion page into Super just like you would with any standard page:
- Go to your Super dashboard and select "Pages".
- Click "Add New Page".
- Paste the link of your translated Notion homepage and assign an easy-to-recognize URL (e.g.,
/es
for Spanish).
Repeat this step for each language.
Set up the Language Switcher in Super
Create a New Language in Super
Next, assign these pages as language-specific homepages in Super:
- Navigate to the "Language" page via the sidebar in your site settings on the Super dashboard.
- Click "Add New Language".
- Choose the language from the dropdown and assign the top-level translated page you previously created in Super as the homepage for that language.
- The default language for your site is determined by the primary language set in your site’s general settings.
Set Up Language-Specific Navigation Menus
To enhance navigation, create dedicated navigation menus for each language section:
- Go to "Languages" in your Super dashboard, click the settings cog icon next to the language, and select "Manage Menu Items".
- Assign menu items by linking them to the appropriate translated pages you've set up in Super.
- Ensure the menu items are translated appropriately for the selected language.
- Apply this navigation menu to the top-level language page.
All subpages under this language section will automatically inherit this navigation menu, keeping the user experience consistent.
Using the Multi-Language Switcher
Visitors will now see a language switcher dropdown in your site's navigation, enabling easy switching between languages. Selecting a language will direct visitors to the homepage of their chosen language.
By following these steps, your Super site will offer a cohesive, multilingual browsing experience tailored to your diverse audience.
