Learn why gallery card sizes may appear different on your live site compared to Notion and how to create a more consistent layout.
The gallery view in Notion displays cards at one size, but the published website shows cards with different heights or proportions.
Why This Happens
The live site optimizes gallery layouts for responsiveness across different screen sizes and devices. Card dimensions can also be affected by:
- The selected card preview option (Page Cover, Page Content, or Files & Media property).
- Images with different aspect ratios.
- Varying amounts of text or visible properties on each card.
- Custom CSS that modifies gallery styling
Recommended Solutions
To achieve a more uniform appearance:
- Use a dedicated Files & Media property for gallery thumbnails.
- Upload images with consistent dimensions (for example, all 16:9 or all square images).
- Limit the number of visible properties displayed on each card.
- Temporarily disable custom CSS to determine whether styling changes are affecting the layout.
Note
While Super aims to preserve the structure of your Notion content, the published site may not replicate Notion's gallery card sizing exactly, as the layout is optimized for web responsiveness and different device widths.
This topic is realistic, commonly asked by users, and provides clear expectations about the differences between Notion and the live site.
