Understand the difference between Notion and Super.so, and how Super turns your Notion content into a live website.
What is Notion?
Notion is an all-in-one workspace that allows users to create, organize, and manage content in a highly flexible way. It combines the functionality of notes, databases, task management, and collaboration tools into a single platform. Because of its block-based structure, users can easily add and rearrange text, images, videos, tables, and databases without needing any technical or coding knowledge.
At its core, Notion acts as a content management system (CMS). Each page in Notion can be treated as a content item, while databases function as structured collections of content, similar to posts, pages, or collections in traditional CMS platforms. This makes it ideal for managing websites, blogs, documentation, and knowledge bases.
How Notion Works with Super
Super uses Notion as the CMS that powers your website. All of your site content—such as pages, blog posts, and navigation items—is created and managed directly in Notion. Super then converts these Notion pages into a fully functional website.
In simple terms:
- Notion is where you create and manage your content.
- Super is the layer that transforms that content into a fast, responsive, and publicly accessible website.
Why Notion Is Used as a CMS
Using Notion as a CMS provides several benefits:
- Ease of use - Content can be created and updated without any coding or technical setup.
- Flexible structure - Pages and databases can be customized to support different types of content and layouts.
- Collaboration - Multiple users can work together in Notion using comments, permissions, and version history.
- Centralized content management - All site content is maintained in one place, making updates and organization easier.
Summary
Notion serves as the content foundation of a Super site. It acts as the CMS where all content is created and maintained, while Super handles how that content is displayed on the web. This approach allows users to build and manage websites efficiently without relying on traditional web development tools.
